Phyllis Kupferstein concentrates on employment-related matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, ERISA, and wage and hour matters, and she also provides counseling and training to clients.  An active trial lawyer, Ms. Kupferstein’s complex litigation experience encompasses consumer, securities and employment class actions, as well as qui tam matters. She represents clients in a wide range of industries, including entertainment, health care, aerospace, construction and engineering, agriculture, and insurance.  She also represents various government contractors in proceedings before the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs.  

Ms. Kupferstein has been annually recognized since 2006 among the top lawyers in the fields of employment and labor, employment litigation defense, and business litigation by the Southern California Super Lawyers.  She serves on the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and is a past Chair of the LACBA delegation to the Conference of California Bar Associations, where she is currently serving as a Regional Director.  Ms. Kupferstein also is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles.  Prior to opening her own law firm, Ms. Kupferstein was a partner at Payne & Fears LLP and at McDermott Will & Emery LLP.  She was a founding member and national director of employment litigation and counseling at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges, LLP.  Ms. Kupferstein received her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and her J.D., cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University, where she was an Articles Editor for the Law Review.
